A Camp Director for over 10 years, Jimmy has extensive knowledge and experience in knowing what a great camp environment needs. With award-winning camp programs, Jimmy has managed over 15 camp venues across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He has a strong sporting background with a level 2 cricket coaching qualification and has played first-class cricket and field hockey at a senior provincial level. Madeleen Grosskopf is a South African professional golfer, Her love for sport started at a very young age. After completing her B.Com Managerial Sciences degree she worked in corporate in Dubai before deciding to pursue her dreams as a full-time athlete. During this time, she crossed paths with ESM and has been working at our Holiday Camps for the past 5 years.
Madeleen believes the foundation of anything sporty must be learned in a fun, yet safe environment. The safety of the holiday campers is, therefore, Madeleen's primary concern. She identified the sessions which are more prone to accidents, and as a result completed lifeguarding and swimming coach certification and first aid, to provide additional support on the pool deck during sessions. She completed performance coaching diploma studies through a UK based university. This provides her with the knowledge to advise and improve health and fitness of the campers, but also provides her with the skill and experience to ensure that her coaching team teaches the holiday campers to the best of their ability.

Ian has been a Physical Education teacher at GEMS Royal Dubai School for over 10 years. He’s a A.S.A. Level 1 and 2 qualified swimming teacher, Australian International Swimming School (AISS) Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety and a former national water polo player. Known for his passion for coaching, he’s also won the ‘GEMS Core Value Award’, the ‘Mariama Varkey Teacher of the Month Award’ and nominated for one of the KHDA Teachers of Dubai.

Sarah has worked closely with our Camp Director Jimmy since June 2011 at JPS camp and as from Spring 2018, she is managing holiday camps at Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park. She moved to Dubai in 2011 to establish a swimming school and later expanding to multi-sports academies, Sarah has the knowledge to ensure children are learning sport in a fun and safe environment. Sarah is keen to ensure children in Dubai are exploring new and different sporting activities with professional coaches.

WHAT IS COVERED IN WINTER CAMP?
The general activities which take place at most venues are as follows: Basketball, Football, Dodgeball, Dance, Fun & Games, Arts and Crafts, Mini Tennis and Aqua fun. Dependent on the venue, these additional activities will take place: Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Karate, Badminton, Quick Cricket and Rounders.
WHAT CAN MY CHILD EXPECT TO GET OUT OF THE CAMP?
All our activities are at entry-level which allows the child to participate and experience the basics of the activity. The main focus is on having fun, making new friends and developing physically, mentally as well as emotionally.
IS TRAINING AGE SPECIFIC? SKILL LEVEL SPECIFIC? GENDER SPECIFIC?
We group the children, boys and girls mixed, according to their ages which don’t differ more than two years within the groups. Our group ratios are 15:2 and when it comes to Aqua Fun, we have a qualified lifeguard, a level 2 swimming coach as well as an assistant with no more than 12 children in a group.
WHAT AREAS OF MY CHILDS DEVELOPMENT WILL ESM HOLIDAY CAMP FOCUS ON?
We always put the interest of children first. We aim to make them feel secure and happy from the moment they walk through our doors. The main focus is on having fun, making new friends and developing physically, mentally as well as emotionally.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL CAMP SESSION LOOK LIKE?
A typical camp day will start nice and early where parents can drop their children off from 8 am – 8.45 am, the first activity will start at 9 am. The camp day will consist of five 45 minute activity sessions. Within each session, the coaches will focus on a particular skill or sport for 15 minutes. Once this skill has been taught, the next 15min will focus on using that skill in an exercise which will finish the session with a 10 – 15min match. Children will take part in 2 activities followed by a 15 min snack break, another 2 activities followed by a 30 min lunch break. Finally, the last session will take place and pick up will commence from 1.30 – 1.45 pm.
WHAT TYPE OF FACILITIES WILL MY CHILD BE TRAINING IN?
We ensure that all activities are held within state-of-the-art indoor facilities in Dubai & Abu Dhabi. ESM Holiday Camps have access to all the schools' gymnasiums, dance studios, swimming pools and classrooms to facilitate all and any activity which is required.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING TO A CAMP?
We advise parents to pack in swimwear all week even though aqua fun won’t take place every day. We recommend a packed lunch which consists of sandwiches, a snack and a refillable water bottle. All children should wear comfortable clothing in shorts and a T-shirt and wear trainers.
